The Mississippi State Bulldogs football program was dealt some sad news on Thursday night, but it was certainly expected. The Bulldogs star defensive back, Emmanuel Forbes, Jr. officially announced his plans to skip his senior season and enter the 2023 NFL Draft on his Twitter page. "Deciding to play for Mississippi State has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have grown off the field just as much as I have developed on it. I've had the opportunity to play for some of the best coaches anybody can ask for. After talking with my family and coaches, I'm excited to announce I will be forgoing my senior year and entering the 2023 NFL Draft. Hail Damn State! Emmanuel Forbes, Jr." - Forbes' Twitter

Will Rogers threw for 301 yards and five touchdowns as Mississippi State rolled over East Tennessee State, 56-7 on Saturday afternoon. Rogers is now No. 9 in Southeastern Conference history with 10,189 yards, moving past Ole Miss' Eli Manning heading into the Bulldogs' Thanksgiving Day showdown with the Rebels in Oxford. It was also a milestone moment for Emmanuel Forbes, who snared a carom off East Tennessee State receiver Cameron Lewis and returned it 79 yards for a second quarter touchdown - his sixth career pick-six to set both an SEC and FBS record. The junior tied the Mississippi State record for most interceptions in a season with six and his 14 interceptions are now two away from tying the career record.

Forbes and the defense didn't give up a point to the Buccaneers' offense. ETSU (3-8) had just 154 yards with 43 of those coming through the air. It was 2 of 13 on 3rd downs and turned the ball over three times. Quarterback Tyler Riddell was 5 of 11 for 47 yards and two interceptions. The Bulldogs (7-4) had 418 yards and 342 of those were through the air. Rogers went 30 of 37 for 301 yards and five touchdowns. Justin Robinson had five catches for 62 yards and a touchdown and Tulu Griffin had four catches for 53 yards and two scores.   Mississippi State forced No. 17 Texas A&M into four turnovers, including three inside the red zone, and the Bulldogs took advantage in a 42-24 victory on Saturday. Decamerion Richardson scooped up Emmanuel Forbes' critical third-quarter blocked field goal and returned it 50 yards for the touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 21-3 lead. The Aggies (3-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) got no closer to 11 as MSU's defense denied A&M inside the 20 all game long with big plays inside its 20. The first came early in the second quarter when Devon Achane fumbled on the 6. MSU responded with a 94-yard, 11-play drive ending with Will Rogers' 5-yard touchdown pass to Rufus Harvey.

Leading 14-0 just before halftime, the Bulldogs defense came through again as Nathaniel Watson forced Aggies quarterback Max Johnson to fumble inside the red zone. Forbes' blocked field goal in the third quarter put an exclamation point on the game for MSU and their first SEC West win. The Bulldogs (4-1, 1-1) had another efficient day offensively with 473 yards, 329 of those from Rogers on 31-of-45 passing with three touchdowns. RaRa Thomas had five catches for 134 yards and a score and MSU rushed for 144 yards on 24 carries. Meanwhile, the Aggies were frustrated on offense. Johnson was 18 of 25 for 201 yards and a touchdown before leaving in the fourth quarter with a hand injury. MSU sacked Johnson four times and posted six tackles for loss, led by 1.5 sacks by backup linebacker JP Purvis. Forbes then made two interceptions late in the fourth quarter and capped the game with a pick-six. - Mississippi State/AP College Football

Blake Shapen threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns as No. 17 Baylor held on to beat Iowa State 31-24 in the Big 12 opener for both teams Saturday. The loss snapped the Cyclones' 11-game home winning streak against conference rivals. Shapen completed 19 of his 26 passes, connecting with 11 receivers. Gavin Holmes finished with three catches for 92 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Bears (3-1) seized control midway through the third quarter, driving 93 yards in 10 plays and taking a 24-14 lead on Richard Reese's 19-yard touchdown run.

Iowa State (3-1) was undone by two interceptions and averaged less than 3 yards per rush when the game was competitive. The Cyclones scored 10 points in the final 7 1/2 minutes, but their onside kick with 55 seconds remaining was recovered by the Bears. Baylor scored on each of its first three possessions, building a 17-7 lead in the second quarter. Two of the drives ended with touchdown passes from Shapen. Those drives were also aided by multiple penalties called on the Cyclones' defense. Iowa State cut the margin to 17-14 by halftime when Hunter Dekkers threw a 24-yard scoring toss to Dimitri Stanley. - Baylor/AP College Football

Baylor quarterback Blake Shapen faked a handoff and took off untouched for a 35-yard touchdown run just before halftime, when Texas State thought it had a fourth-down stop, and the 17th-ranked Bears went on to a 42-7 victory Saturday. True freshman Richard Reese ran 19 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns for the Bears (2-1), who avoided becoming another Top 25 team to lose at home to a Sun Belt Conference team this season. Shapen completed 15 of 26 passes for 184 yards with a 28-yard TD to Gavin Holmes.

As defenders tackled Reese in the backfield on fourth-and-1, Shapen raced past a blitzing safety to cap a nine-play, 96-yard drive for a 21-7 lead. That came immediately after Texas State (1-2) had pulled within one score with 1:59 left in the half and the Bears were backed up to their own 4 after Craig Williams muffed the ensuing kickoff. Baylor (2-1) jumped in front when Reese went straight up the middle for a 14-yard TD on the game's opening drive. He added scores of 52 and 5 yards in the fourth quarter, giving him five rushing TDs in the Bears' two home games. Williams, a fifth-year junior nicknamed "Sqwirl" who was limited by injuries the past four seasons, had a 30-yard TD run. - Baylor/AP College Football

TRACKING TOP DRAFT PROSPECTS - WEEK 2: 15. Emmanuel Forbes, Jr, CB, Mississippi State, 6-0, 180, 1,...Forbes looked excellent, getting a tackle, an assist and a third-quarter interception in a 39-17 win at Arizona. Previous week, No. 16: Sometimes when a cornerback has no stats it is because the opponent feared him. That seemed to be the case, and justifiably so, in Mississippi State's 49-23 win over Memphis. He had one Kodak Moment knocking away a pass intended for Memphis wide receiver Javon Ivory in the end zone. Great play. Forbes is the FBS active career leader in interceptions returned for touchdowns with three. - Frank Cooney/NFL Draft Scout

TRACKING TOP DRAFT PROSPECTS - WEEK 1: 16. Emmanuel Forbes, Jr, CB, Mississippi State, 6-0, 180,...Sometimes when a cornerback has no stats it is because the opponent feared him. That seemed to be the case, and justifiably so, in Mississippi State's 49-23 win over Memphis. Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes had no official stats, like tackles, assists or interceptions. But we know he was there because he had one Kodak Moment knocking away a pass intended for Memphis wide receiver Javon Ivory in the end zone. Great play.   Blake Shapen had known since the end of spring practice that he would be the starting quarterback for 10th-ranked Baylor. He spent that time really getting to know his teammates, and they were certainly on the same page to start the season. Shapen completed 17 of 20 passes for 214 yards with two long touchdowns and had a nifty dive into the end zone for another score on the final play of the first half as the Bears beat FCS team Albany 69-10 in their season opener Saturday night. "I think tonight was just a glimpse of what you'll see in the future," Shapen said. "I think it was good for some of our guys, and especially me, to get out there and be able to touch the ground again and be able to play again." Gavin Holmes, the sixth-year Bears wideout who missed all of last season because of a foot injury, returned a punt 72 yards for a score. Monaray Baldwin had two touchdowns, on a 47-yard catch for Baylor's first score before adding a 50-yard reverse run after halftime.

The reigning Big 12 champion Bears have a six-game winning streak, matching fourth-ranked Clemson for the longest active among FBS teams. The Tigers open their season Monday night against Georgia Tech. Shapen's 1-yard TD run gave Baylor a 35-7 halftime lead. Shapen swept to the right sideline and dived toward the end zone. He switched the ball from his right to left hand and was able to reach it out to hit the pylon before falling down out of bounds. "One of the things that I appreciate about Blake is that he is very understated, and not a lot of drama with him," coach Dave Aranda said. "Probably the most drama is what's on his head with his mohawk and all that. Outside of that, you know, there's not a whole lot happening, which is very just Joe Cool with all of it." - Baylor/AP College Football
